The United States Department of State has approved a $74 million deal with Brazil on the sale of FGM-148 Javelin missiles.
The Brazilian government is interested in buying 222 Javelin missiles (with disposable launch tubes) along with 33 reusable Javelin Command Launch Units (CLU). So far the Javelin is in use in 22 militaries, including Ukraine, which has used it effectively against Russian armor. Along with Brazil, Albania, Latvia and Thailand are also waiting to receive their first orders.
The FGM-148 Javelin is a fire and forget ATGM capable of targeting the tanks from above, negating the advantages of heavy armor on the hull and sides of the turret.
