Turkish warplanes have bombarded Cariqli and areas north of Ayn al-Arab, resulting in the deaths of at least 22 Assad-affiliated militias. Images show large plumes of smoke caused caused by the airstrikes.
It is yet unknown if the it is in response to an attack, or if signifies the beginning of a new operation. Ankara’s economy has been strangled partially due to hosting the worlds largest refugee population, many of which are from Syria, and refuse to return to areas under Assad or PKK’s control.
